Remember Scotty on Star Trek? It's James Doonan's birthday today.
He was born in 1920 but he's been beamed up for some time now.
In actual fact, the funeral frontier for the actor synonymous with the line, "Beam me up, Scotty!" took place in 2007, when his remains were been blasted into space. His ashes were launched from a site in New Mexico, along with those of former US astronaut Gordon Cooper and 200 others. Widows Wende Doohan and Suzan Cooper fired the rocket which disappeared into the atmosphere within 12 seconds
And on this day in 1934 (when Himself was barely nine weeks old) John Dillinger escaped from prison in Indiana by threatening guards with a fake pistol.
