With wind chill: 43 Below Celsius. View large.

Some of the shots taken by writer John Newton on a January day in Calgary's Fish Creek Park.

The wind chill temperature was Minus 43 Celsius as he set out to shoot Chickadees and Downy Woodpeckers together - supporting a personal theory that the two work together in winter in something approaching a symbiotic relationship.

John Newton's entertaining books of wordplay, "Broken Into Bits" and "Chopped Into Pieces" are presently selling briskly simply through word-of-mouth.

The two are offered for $20.00 plus #1.00 GST while supplies last. Add four bucks for mailing. A more serious collection of poetry is planned for June.
