Ever thought of going to school in Denmark?

Perhaps you should look into the latest ‘gymnasium’ (college or upper secondary school) in Copenhagen, which was completed in the capital’s development area, Ørestad, in 2006.

The college, which is built around an open area visible from almost every floor, looks very much like a large mall.

It is the first educational institution in Denmark to fulfil the country's educational vision regarding subjects, organisation and teaching systems.



Offering programs in science, social science and human science, Ørestad College is intended to realize Denmark's 2005 educational reforms aimed at strengthening the professions, and enhancing scientific studies.

The school has wireless internet everywhere and every student receives a free laptop.

Architects 3XN A/S (Nielsen Kim Herforth Nielsen, Bo Boje Larsen, Kim Christiansen) based their design on the key requirements of communication, interaction and synergy.

The design was awarded First Prize in invited competition in 2003.
