In Calgary, this Thursday, 12th June, 7:30 p.m. at Pages Bookstore.

It's been some two years since Cagary's favourite poet won high acclaim with his last book, In John Updike's Room.

That was the collection Lee Shedden of The Calgary Herald referred to as, `by turns funny, elegiac, wry and tender' and 'a testament to a lifetime of dedication to the poet's craft'.

So it's good to hear that Christopher Wiseman is in the news again, with the launch of his new book, 36 Cornelian Avenue. this week at Pages.

As well as having his poems published in over eighty literary journals and many internatilonal anthologies, Christopher Wiseman has published eight collections of poetry, an academic study of the Orkney poet Edwin Muir, and many literary articles and reviews.

He has twice won the Government of Alberta Poetry Prize, as well as the Writers' Guild of Alberta poetry Prize, and been given an Alberta Achievement Award for services to the literary arts.

Christopher Wiseman still lives in Calgary where he writes, reads, edits, listens to all sorts of music, and watches as much soccer and hockey as he can. If you're in town, seize the chance to meet him this Thursday.
