If you happen to be in Philadelphia ...

" I don't know if the comic book is the lowest form of art," says Paul Richard of The Washington Post, "but it's way down there."

But, adds Richard, this is central to its charm.

The subject of his 26th October commentary is the exhibition "R. Crumb's Underground" now open until 7th December at the University of Pennsylvania's Institute of Contemporary Art.

The show, which was organized in San Francisco by Todd Hignite for the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, includes more than 100 objects.

If you're interested in lowering your brows a little, you can catch this free exhibition at the ICA from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

For information, call 215-898-7108.
