In a world of artistic pretension, we need to remember some of the true geniuses.



Marguerite Gérard 1761-1837 not only painted this portrait of a lute player but also painted a portrait of herself painting a portrait of a lute player. As you will observe, the layout, colour balance, technique and visual narrative are perfect in both instances. We honour her memory.
