What was once the Edmonton Gallery has been reborn with a massive renovation estimated at $88 million. Three floors of specialized space will now feature art, photography and audio exhibition from Canada and around the world.

The 84,000 square-foot building, which doubles the exhibition space of the former gallery, was redesigned by Los Angeles architect Randall Stout, and is itself considered to be a work of art.
It is said to be inspired by the winding North Saskatchewan River which flows through the city and by the aurora borealis, a familiar sight in the Alberta skies.
Fabricated from glass, patinaed zinc and stainless steel, the building includes enhanced exhibition spaces, educational facilities, a restaurant-café, lecture and film theatre and sculpture gardens.
