Stefan Kanchev (1915-2001).

Click on the headline to be introduced to the work of Stefan Kanchev, Bulgaria's multi-talented master of graphic design, whose work is probably better known than his name.

The son of an iconographer, Kanchev devoted his life to graphic art, working in all the areas of applied arts.

His portfolio includes a huge variety of striking posters, stamps, artwork and advertising for the Bulgarian state, by whom he was honoured with the Bulgarian State title “National Artist” in 1971.

His most accomplished works however are the symbols he created for various organizations and institutions that successfully communicate the nature of the business while serving as a bold brand identity. As you can see, his work shows calm and clear composition, a confident harmony between fonts and shapes, and unfailing creativity.
