Yuriy Shevchuk is internationally known for his portraits of jazz musicians - but he has another side to his personality.
Water colour is an unforgiving medium - its texture kinder to the natural scene than the shining, metallic world of fast cars - something that makes the racing illustrations of Yuriy Shevchuk all the more pleasing.
Born in 1961 in Kiev, Ukraine, Yuriy Shevchuk has been drawing for as long as he remembers.
But it was at the Kiev Art School and later at Kiev Architectural Academy (Interior Design Studio 1978-1984) that he refined his remarkable technique.
It was here that he developed his own confident style and mastered the skills of composition that are so evident in his jazz pictures (which we hope to feature soon).
Since 1993 Yuriy Shevchuk has been living in Prague and exhibiting worldwide. His work is shown in select galleries in the Czech Republic, Russia, France, and Belgium and his prints are sold internationally. He became an Associate Member of the Pastel Society of America in 2007.
