Just when you thought that Britain's designers couldn't possibly come up with a worse logotype than they produced for the London Olympics, here is their indecipherable creation for the London Design Festival.

Pentagram: London Design Festival 2016 identity

The London Design Festival is one of Europe’s biggest celebrations of design, in all disciplines, and there are hundreds of events and exhibitions, from the landmark installations at the V&A and this year’s inaugural London Design Biennale, to smaller, hidden gems around the various districts: Shoreditch, Clerkenwell, Islington, Chelsea, Brompton, Brixton and Bankside. I'm rather glad not to be living there; the frustration would drive me to distraction. The basic idea that form follows function no longer seems to apply.
