My friend Jack.

Calgary's Jack Swinton was something of a pioneer in functional townhouse architecture.

He shared a fondness for masterful art and graphics.

He loved good cartoonists and visited his favourites on the web every day.

He was a historian and researcher who had traced his ancestry back through the entire history of Scotland to the Vikings.

He named his son Rolfe after a nordic predecessor - a son who would subsequently row for Yale.

And privately, for his own pleasure, he would sculpt these amazing forms from hardwoods he would harvest anywhere he could find them.

Jack Swinton died last August and we miss him.
