Eric Lieu's ParisDailyPhoto offers an intimate view of the City of Lights from the tourist spots to the little-known quarters of the metropolis. Eric recently posted this picture of a sign he came across in Montmartre. There's a little square there, named after Roland Dorgelès, a French journalist and writer who became famous after a hoax.
Dorgelès attached a brush to the tail of a donkey, and made it paint "something". He titled the resulting painting "Sunset over the Adriatic" and signed it by the donkey's name anagram Boronali (first name Joachim-Raphaël!) - then he managed to exhibit the "masterpiece" at an art show in 1910!
Here's the kicker: It sold for 400 francs - which was equivalent to 1 400 of today's euros.
Face it: the man deserves a sign of his own.
