Levitated Apples had the great pleasure this past weekend of meeting Eleanor Lowden Pidgeon at a group exhibition and sale in Calgary.
An artist who shares this blog's enthusiasm for vibrant reds, Eleanor probably gained her appreciation for the colour during those marvellous autumns in her home province of Ontario.
She studied fine arts at the University of Western Ontario, and continued her work in art and water-colour at the Ontario College of Art, the Alberta College of Art and various workshops along the way.
In 1994 she joined the Toronto Watercolor Society, becoming a signature member of the TWS and serving as its publicity chairperson until December 1999.
WELCOME TO THE WEST!
After moving with her family to Alberta nine years ago, she began teaching at various classes, most recently instructing the drawing class at the University of Calgary, Certificate Program. And true to her own extravagant taste in colour, she teaches “Courageous Watercolor” classes at various venues in Calgary and Alberta.
Her acrylics and water-colours can be seen at Koyman Galleries in Ottawa; Dunn Street Gallery in Oakville; Canvas Gallery and Framed Life Gallery in Toronto,Ontario. In Alberta, she is showing at Gibson Fine Art in Calgary, Terra Cotta Gallery in Black Diamond; Elevation 1309 Gallery in Canmore; and Stratus Gallery in Banff.
