Already, the size and scope of the show has attracted widespread interest - and if you're planning a trip to London, this looks like one event that should be a 'must' on your itinerary.
Here's what the Academy has to say:
"Not many artists can boast Picasso, Francis Bacon, Degas, Delacroix, Paula Rego and Quentin Blake as fans – yet Honoré Daumier made an admirer of them all.
Long before Private Eye and Spitting Image started poking fun at our politicians, Daumier was ridiculing lawyers, politicians and even the king himself as a newspaper caricaturist in turbulent Nineteenth Century Paris.
Yet there was more to Daumier than a keen eye for satire; his paintings, watercolours and drawings reveal a much wider picture of Parisian life. From laundresses to street entertainers, he captured an eclectic cast of characters on the fringes of society and was long fascinated by courtroom scenes and the way people viewed and judged art.
For this exhibition we’ve brought together a hundred and thirty of his works and put together a fascinating events programme, including a guest spot from illustrator Quentin Blake!
For your chance to explore the city that inspired Daumier, enter our competition to win a luxury trip to Paris*. Come and experience a different side of Paris at Honoré Daumier (1808 – 1879): Visions of Paris from this Saturday."
