Of her latest exhibition, artist Susan Jephcott confesses, "I'm addicted to my art. I love my music. And I'm SUCH a groupie!"

She writes: "This is an invitation to my solo show 'Jazz Etc.'  which opens on the afternoon of the Tenth of November, which is a Sunday. I hope those of you who are within range will be able to drop by.

I have been working on this series for at least three years - and I have also put together a collection of my sketches of long ago portraying some of the Jazz greats that I was fortunate enough to see ... and actually meet ... in person.

These are from a weekend I spent at the Faisan Bleu in Ste Hyacinthe, Quebec with the Nymans, friends of my Dad ... when Louis Armstrong and his All Stars were playing there. I was seventeen and very excited … tasted my very first scotch …tried singing “Autumn Leaves" for Billy Kyle (piano) to which he said. 'Man! You’re changing octaves in the middle of a note!' Amazing how dorky you can be when you’re young!

Met Velma Middleton and Louis Armstrong at three in the morning and sewed a button back on his jacket. He was just back from Germany and played 'Huzza Kuzzar' for me. Had a big rambling discussion with Trummy Young about God.

It was totally a cool night and I was treated like a princess and only got to bed  at daybreak.  The Nymans and I missed three buses back to Montreal; we were so hung-over!"
